Pune-headquartered firm, KSB Limited, which delves into the commissioning, inspection, servicing and maintenance of pumps, has received a letter of award for 800 solar water pumping systems under PM-Kusum III Scheme under Component B. The value of the order is pegged at INR 27.78 crores and been awarded by the Department of Agriculture, Uttar Pradesh.

The sales and services for the orders is expected from the fourth quarter of of Financial Year 2023.

Component B of PM KUSUM

The Component B of PM KUSUM aspires for the installation of 20 lakh standalone solar powered agriculture pumps by March 31, 2026. As on August 30, 2023, 261163 standalone pumps have been installed. However, the standalone pumps sanctioned are 949471.

Under the said Component, Maharashtra has installed the highest number of standalone pumps (65988), followed by Haryana (62103) and Rajasthan (59684). Several other states, on the other hand, have shown little to no success with regards to installation. These include Assam, Kerala, Ladakh, West Bengal, Telangana among others.

Push to Solar Pumping Systems

States are now ramping up efforts to give an impetus to the installation of solar pumping systems. Jammu & Kashmir, which has installed 757 solar water pumping systems (as on August 30, 2023), recently offered 80% subsidy on solar pumps. In a major announcement by Maharashtra, the state said it would provide solar pumps to benefit five lakh farmers.

A few days back, Odisha Renewable Energy Development Agency (OREDA) also announced a tender for solar pumps under the scheme along with fiscal incentives for developers like accelerated depreciation, concessional customs and excise duties, tax holidays etc. as available for such projects.The tender comes after the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), after it met with states, allowed states to issue their own tenders under the issue under Component B.
