KP Group, a renewable energy conglomerate, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Gujarat government, committing to invest Rs. 4,000 crore towards renewable energy projects in Saurashtra and Kutch. The company announced in a press release about the signing of the MoU at the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference (VGRC) for Kutch and Saurashtra held in Rajkot. For the Gujarat-based group, the comfort level of dealing in Gujarat will probably mean a higher conversion rates on these projects.
Under the MoU, KP Group said it will develop a portfolio of solar and wind-solar hybrid power projects with a combined capacity of over 855 MW. This includes a 200 MW (DC) solar power project under the Distributed Renewable Energy Based Power (DREBP) scheme with a captive user at Devbhumi Dwarka with an investment of Rs. 800 crore, and a 405 MW solar power project at Bhuj in Kutch with an outlay of Rs. 1,200 crore.
The proposed investments also cover a 100 MW ISTS-connected wind-solar hybrid power project and a 150 MW ISTS-connected wind-solar hybrid power project under the Central Transmission Utility (CTU) at Devbhumi Dwarka with an investment of Rs. 800 crore and Rs. 1,200 crore, respectively.
About The Collaboration
The MoU was signed between Hassan Patel, Whole-time Director of KP Group, and Bhakti Shamal, Joint Secretary, Energy and Petrochemicals Department, Government of Gujarat. Together, these projects are expected to generate more than 4,200 direct and indirect employment opportunities and are scheduled to commence operations in 2026. As per the MoU, the state government will facilitate KP Group in obtaining the necessary approvals and clearances from the concerned departments in accordance with prevailing policies and regulations.

In the October 2025, Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference for the North Gujarat region, KP Group had signed an MoU with the state government to invest Rs. 8,000 crore for setting up hydrogen and electric vehicle fuel stations across the state. Before that, at the 10th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit in Gandhinagar in January 2024, KP Group signed MoUs to invest Rs. 17,790 crore for wind, solar, and hybrid power projects, and a green hydrogen plant.
