Pace Digitek has won a tender from Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Limited (KREDL) for a 250 MWAC solar project with a 250 MW/1,100 MWh BESS, at an approximate cost of Rs. 17,750 Cr (including GST). In a regulatory filing, Pace Digitek announced securing the project in its home state, Karnataka, at the Pavagada Solar Park. It won the 250 MWAC solar project, with a 250 MW/1,100 MWh BESS, at a tariff of Rs. 5.51 per unit, for a total project cost of Rs. 17,750 million (including GST).
Pace Digitek said the project is expected to be completed within 18 months from the signing of the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) agreement. It explained that the plant would have an operational life of 25 years from the project commissioning, based on the terms, conditions, and provisions of the Request for Selection (RfS) and the Power Purchase Agreement.
About the Tender
KREDL floated the tender for its Tranche I 250 MW solar-plus-Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project at Ryapte in May 2025 and awarded the bids after nine months. The tender will supply peak power and optimize grid utilization at the Pavagada Solar Park under a Build-Own-Operate (BOO) model.
According to the tender, the developer will be responsible for setting up the solar and storage project under a tariff-based competitive bidding process. The project aims to enhance peak power availability and grid efficiency at Pavagada. Through the tender, KREDL will provide up to 1,000 acres of land on lease at Ryapte, Pavagada, Karnataka, under a Land Sub-Lease Agreement, for the establishment of the solar and BESS components.
On an annual basis, the Renewable Power Developer (RPD) can store at least 80% of its gross generation from solar PV in the BESS (i.e., 1,100 MWh). Additionally, the discharge from the BESS is expected primarily between 16:00 hrs and 22:00 hrs, or 05:00 hrs and 08:00 hrs, or during any other daily time blocks, based on grid evacuation capacity availability.
