In a key development that would see the further expansion of solar power in the USA, Philadelphia Solar and Translucent Energy have joined forces in a strategic partnership to bring Tier-1-produced solar PV modules to the American market. Philadelphia Solar held that the JV – Trading Philadelphia Solar – will offer a full-range of utility to residential-grade PV modules.

Philadelphia Solar also mentioned that the new alliance has the means to immediately meet American demand with mono-PERC PV modules (400-410W and 530-550W) priced as DDP/ LDP (Delivered Duty Paid/Landed Duty Paid). It’s also complete with required UL certification, with no unexpected costs, and no delivery or permitting complications.

The JV can deliver modules optimized to developers’ needs. Not only does the alliance oversee module production from silicon to ingots, bricks, wafers, and cells, providing exceptional quality PV modules, but additionally these can be packaged for delivery on site in pre-grouped strings within very tight output tolerances to provide developers with the highest production possible in any given array, said Philadelphia Solar.

The two companies are on track to complete a 1.2 GW manufacturing line for US-made mono-PERC modules by the fourth quarter of 2024, with plans to transition to heterojunction-process modules by 2025. The alliance of Translucent Energy and Philadelphia Solar will ensure that solar developers have access to the quality modules they need to reach energy independence in the U.S. market with greater speed and optimal efficiency.

Mohammad Shehadah, CCO, Philadelphia Solar, said, “As the solar market continues to expand, we are delighted to partner with Translucent Energy to undertake this transformative step for our business, first by growing our exports to the USA, and secondly through our planned 1.2 GW panel factory in America.”

Nour Mousa, CEO, Translucent Energy, mentioned, “With global supply chains facing unprecedented disruption, many U.S.-based solar developers are struggling to find a reliable and cost-effective source for their solar panels. The exceptional response we are seeing from developers demonstrates that our joint venture addresses a key market need.”
