Mumbai-based JSW Energy has commissioned 281 MW of renewable energy capacity, comprising 215 MW of solar capacity and 66 MW of wind capacity, thereby increasing its current installed capacity to 12,499 MW. This capacity addition will enable the company to benefit from the peak wind season during the year, contributing to its overall renewable output. Besides this, it also catches the June 30 deadline for 100% exemption from ISTS charges. With this capacity addition, the installed wind capacity stands at 3,482 MW, solar capacity at 1,968 MW, and hydro capacity at 1,391 MW, taking the share of renewables in overall capacity to 55%.
Further, JSW Renew Energy Three Limited, a step-down subsidiary of the company, has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Adani Electricity Mumbai Limited for an STU-connected wind capacity of 250 MW. The PPA is signed to supply power for 25 years with a tariff of ₹3.65/KWh. The project is located in Maharashtra and is expected to be commissioned in the next 24 months.
JSW Energy has a total locked-in generation capacity of 29.9 GW comprising 12.5 GW operational, 12.4 GW under construction across wind, thermal, and hydro, and a pipeline of 4.9 GW. The company also has 29.3 GWh of locked-in energy storage capacity through hydro-pumped storage projects of 26.4 GWh and a battery energy storage system (BESS) of 2.9 GWh. The company aims to reach 30 GW generation capacity and 40 GWh of energy storage capacity by FY 2030.

Sharing the recent progress made by the company in the wind energy segment, Sharad Mahendra, Joint Managing Director & CEO, of JSW Energy, said in an investor's call, "We have added a total of 3.6 GW of operational capacity during fiscal year 2025. This comprises 1.7 GW of organic capacity that affirms our capabilities to execute large-scale projects efficiently. Our organic wind capacity addition stands at 1.3 GW representing one-third of the nation’s total wind capacity additions in FY2025."
He added, "We have commissioned and we have demonstrated commissioning of fresh 1.3 gigawatts of wind capacity, which faces the maximum challenge in terms of the ROW issues and implementation issues, which is almost one-third of the country's capacity addition which has taken place. "
