Solar and BESS Project
JSW Renew Energy Forty Five Limited, a subsidiary of JSW Energy, has signed a Power Purchase Agreement with Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM) for a grid-connected 100MW Solar Project with 100MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS).
The company said that the aforesaid project will be developed on a designated site and connected to the 220/400 kV KPTCL Firozabad substation in Kalaburagi district. JSW subsidiary and BESCOM signed the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for a 25-year tenure at a tariff of ₹4.31/ kWh. After this, the Company's total locked-in energy storage capacity stands at 29.4 GWh, including 3.0 GWh of BESS and 26.4 GWh of Pumped Hydro Storage. The Company is heading towards achieving its target of 40 GWh of energy storage by 2030.
JSW Previous BESS Project
In a bid to increase its BESS capacity, JSW Energy, through its subsidiary JSW Renew Energy Thirty Seven, has signed a Battery Energy Storage Purchase Agreement (BESPA) with Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd (RVUNL) for a 250 MW/500 MWh standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Rajasthan.
The project, slated to be developed on a build-own-operate (BOO) basis, will provide storage services under a 12-year contract at a tariff of ₹2,24,000 per MW per month. The project will receive viability gap funding (VGF) to enhance cost competitiveness and support grid stability.
JSW Energy, which began operations in 2000 with a 2x130 MW thermal plant in Vijayanagar, Karnataka, has since expanded its generation capacity from 260 MW to 12.8 GW. The company is currently developing projects totaling 12.5 GW and aims to reach 30 GW of total power capacity by 2030.
