Jaguar Land Rover to Launch First All-Electric SUV in India

UK’s largest automotive manufacturer, Jaguar Land Rover has announced the launch of its all-electric SUV, ‘I-Pace’ in India on March 09, 2021. However, the bookings for I-Pace started in India in November 2020. 

Interestingly, in the Covid era, the launch of I-Pace will be a virtual event for members of the media, customers, and fans of the brand. The all-new EV SUV will be available in three trim levels — S, SE, and HSE. And, it will be seen in a single powertrain option — EV400. 

The company has announced it through Twitter also, as the post reads, “All-Electric Jaguar I-PACE. Arriving in India on 9th March 2021. Dramatic Design. Innovative Technology. Exciting Performance. Zero Emissions. Soon to become a reality on Indian roads.”

The company claims that since its debut, the I-PACE has won more than 80 global awards. It was the first car ever to win all three World Car titles simultaneously in 2019; World Car Of The Year, World Green Car Of The Year, and World Car Design Of The Year.

Speaking on the launch of I-Pace, the President & Managing Director at Jaguar Land Rover India, Rohit Suri stated, “After the fabulous response to the digital launch of the Land Rover Defender, we are excited about curating yet another digital experience for the launch of Jaguar I-PACE in India. This immersive & engaging digital event will provide a peek into a future-facing urban metropolis that is practically designed from the perspective of a sustainable ecosystem, uses innovative technologies, and supports efficient modes of mobility like electric vehicles.”

“I am certain that members of the media, our esteemed customers, and fans of the brand will thoroughly enjoy the virtual experience being offered through this unique, futuristic, and eclectically designed launch event,” Rohit further explained.

All-new fully electric SUV I-Pace has electrically powered features and attractions;

Battery: I-PACE’s 90 kWh battery is made up of high energy density lithium-ion pouch cells. It’s design and state-of-the-art thermal management system support longevity and periods of sustained maximum power.

Charging: I-PACE can be charged at an ever-growing number of public charging points with your public charging cable.

Power: I-PACE is propelled by two permanent magnet synchronous electric motors. Similar to the technology found in the I‑TYPE Formula E racing car, these motors generate 294 kW and 696 Nm of torque.

Performance: Instant torque and All Wheel Drive traction give I-PACE the acceleration of a sports car. It reaches 100 km/h in 4.8 s.

The company has also announced today, that Global chauffeur service Blacklane has acquired a majority stake in Havn, London’s all-electric service provider, accelerating the electrification of its private hire fleet around the world.  

Although, the investment, completed in November 2020, will allow Blacklane to grow Havn’s service and offer more zero-emission rides in London, as well as adding the world’s first premium all-electric Jaguar I-PACE performance SUV to its global fleet for the first time.
