Israel-based Ecoppia, which provides robotic cleaning solutions for photovoltaic solar, has announced another collaboration with ENGIE, a French multinational utility company. The partnership is for its 181.25 MW (AC)/199.8 MW (DC) Coya Solar PV Plant in Chile’s Antofagasta region, which is the energy firm’s largest project in northern Chile.

The project is expected to generate 7.2M US$ in revenue for Ecoppia over the course of the projects’ lifecycle.

The partnership forged between the two firms marks the continuation of the collaboration, with their fourth joint project in different regions of the world.

The Coya Solar PV Plant is located in one of the driest regions in the world. Ecoppia offers water-free robotic cleaning solutions, ideal for the challenges the region presents, since they allow effective, frequent, and autonomous cleaning, in areas with water scarcity and high soiling. Ecoppia’s cloud-based platform make possible continuous monitoring and remote management of the robots, as well as a preventive maintenance program – demonstrating the highest availability rates in the market for a decade, the firm claims.

In a recent announcement, Ecoppia has begun its office in South America. It has thus expands its local support and continues to address the massive demand in the region. “South America is a fast-growing region for renewable energy, and Ecoppia is excited to play such a vital role in ensuring high energy outputs of solar sites despite the local challenges,” shared Ecoppia’s CEO, Jean Scemama. “We are happy to collaborate with ENGIE once again, as ENGIE is a forward-thinking company that understands automation is a necessity for large-scale site management, as they know our solutions help IPPs reach lower LCOE”.

Eccopia has to its credit more than 16 GW of signed agreements and it boasts of cleaning over 8 billion solar panels. The firm maintains that its fully autonomous robots maximize the performance of utility-scale PV sites all over the world in a cost-effective manner. Remotely managed and controlled, the Ecoppia platform allows solar sites to maintain peak performance with minimal costs and human intervention. The firm has established offices in Asia, the Middle East, Europe and LATAM.

Specialty chemicals player Lanxess recently revealed that it had signed power full supply agreements with energy company ENGIE for a total of 1,400 GWh for sites in Germany and Belgium.
