UK’s Independent Power Producer (IPP) Conrad Energy has entered into an agreement with BNP Paribas for a period of 15 years. The Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) will pave the way for renewable energy to be supplied from Conrad Energy’s newly set up solar farm in Herefordshire, England.

The Larport Solar Farm is slated to deliver more than 40,000 MWh of renewable electricity ever year. This will help save close to 9432 tonnes of carbon dioxide annually.

Conrad Energy is Britain’s largest flexible energy producing firm that aids the natiional grid of UK with renewable energy.

“We have been excited at Conrad Energy about the potential for the Larport site since 2019,” stated Conrad Energy Chief Executive Steven Hardman. “To secure this kind of agreement with a partner as dedicated to the transition to net zero as BNP Paribas supports our belief that the upcoming milestones for periods of zero carbon electricity are achievable.”

BNP Paribas is a founding member of the Net-Zero Banking Alliance, introduced by the UN Environment Programme Finance Initiative. BNP Paribas helps mobilise the financial sector to give an impetus to the transition to more sustainable economies and it is the eurozone’s largest bank. The firm maintains that by 2030, BNP Paribas will achieve transitioning over 80% of its energy financing activities to low-carbon technologies.

Emmanuelle Bury, the UK Country Head at BNP Paribas, said, “We are excited to be working in partnership with Conrad Energy to deliver this corporate PPA. The energy from Larport is a key step in decarbonising our UK operations. With this agreement in place we have taken a significant step on our path to net-zero banking.”

IPP Conrad Energy owns and operates more than 60 sites across the UK, hosting 700 MW of flexible generation, The firm boasts of over 150 MW of battery storage.
