Invenergy California Offshore has announced that it has been named provisional winner for 80,418 acres of seabed for offshore wind development by the U.S. Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM). Invenergy California Offshore is a subsidiary of Invenergy, that claims to be a leading developer, owner, and operator of sustainable energy solutions.

Invenergy held that the winning bid of $145.3 million secured lease OCS-P 0565, making Invenergy the only American-owned provisional winner.

Invenergy also said that the said lease doubles its offshore wind portfolio and affirms the company’s long-term commitment to offshore wind development. Also, the lease is the second secured by the company this year. This also marks the first investment of Invenergy in a floating offshore wind lease and expands its offshore wind footprint from the Atlantic to the Pacific coast.

Earlier this year, Invenergy and partners secured OCS-A 0542 in the New York Bight, now known as Leading Light Wind.

This was the first-ever auction for leases by the US Federal Government for the development of massive wind farms off California’s coast which netted final bids of $757 million. This also marks the first auction on the West Coast of the USA. It included five sites about 20 miles off Morro Bay and Humboldt County, totaling 583 square miles of deep ocean waters.

Invenergy and its affiliated companies develop, own, and operate large-scale renewable and other clean energy generation and storage facilities in the Americas, Europe and Asia.

Invenergy has developed more than 30 gigawatts (GW) of projects that are in operation, construction or contracted, including wind, solar, transmission infrastructure and natural gas power generation and advanced energy storage projects.
