Inox Wind, one of India’s leading manufacturers of wind turbine generators and components, has announced plans to invest INR 400 crore to establish a new manufacturing facility at the Kyadigoppa Industrial Area in Kushtagi taluk, Koppal district.
The project will be developed in two phases and is expected to generate around 1,000 direct employment opportunities.
Investment Plan and Land Allocation
According to the Large and Medium Industries Minister M. B. Patil, land under the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) has already been allocated for the facility.
Of the total planned investment, INR 300 crore will be deployed in the first phase and INR 100 crore in the second phase. The plant’s development will be anchored within a strategic industrial zone aimed at supporting large-scale manufacturing of renewable energy equipment.
Shift from Vijayapura to Koppal
Inox Wind initially showed interest in setting up the unit in the Vijayapura district. However, the proposal was later redirected to Koppal after a suitable industrial site adjacent to the National Highway could not be identified in Vijayapura. The accessibility factor, particularly for moving oversized turbine components, played a key role in finalising the new location.
The upcoming facility will focus on manufacturing crucial wind turbine components, including towers, large blades, and pillars.
Karnataka Continues Its Wind Energy Success Story
The latest development adds to Karnataka’s leadership in the wind energy sector. Karnataka remained India’s top wind energy performer by the mid of this year, adding a record 1,331.48 MW of wind power capacity by June, this year, bringing its cumulative total to above 7350 MW.
Karnataka has plans to implement 17 GW of new wind projects by 2030, of which over 5 GW will fall under the Renewable Energy Cluster Programme.
