The company statement revealed that Surya Nutan will “minimize radiative and conductive heat losses.” It also shared that the solar cooking system can be used in extreme weather conditions, including in the absence of sun for days and long durations. The company called this a major innovation in energy transition and energy security, given that India is currently dependent on other countries for half of its LPG requirement.

Chairman, IOC, S.M. Vaidya, said that the company could either manufacture independently or resort to contract manufacturing.

Customers will initially be reached through IOC’s LPG network.
