Green Stocks Jan 12-US Ambassador Gor Raises Hopes, And Markets
All it took was a few positive comments from the new US Ambassador to India, Sergio Gor, for the markets to mount a recovery from the day's lows. The almost 900-point journey from the day's bottom explains just how much store the market is putting by the US-India trade deal by now. Besides ending uncertainty, perhaps the single biggest enemy of stocks, the deal will also put to rest fears of any additional penalties on India by the US, especially anything that targets its IT sector.
For green stocks, it remains a choppy market to navigate, as even significant order wins like the one announced by Shakti Pumps today moved the stock, but nowhere close to what one had got used to from similar announcements. For the record, Shakti has announced a Rs 650 crore order win, to be serviced by March 2026, taking total order wins announced in just the past quarter to Rs 1900 crores.
Other stocks enjoying renewed interest were manufacturers Premier Energies and Emmvee, besides solar EPC Waaree RTL. In all this, several stocks slipped up as well, notably Oswal Pumps and Pace Digitek. Perhaps until they make the next order win announcement.
Meanwhile, results season is upon us, with results from Waaree RTL and Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy due on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively. While both are EPC firms, as significant players, their results and market commentary will be watched carefully for signals on the future, and the prices of the green pack by extension.
Something to look forward to in a market that has seemed devoid of any momentum until now.
