Borosil Renewables Plunges While Most Green Stocks Record Marginal Increase
On a day when the markets struggled to decide just how bad US tariffs on India could be, immediately or in the long term, the immediate consensus seems to be business as usual. Thus, most of our green energy stocks with an overwhelmingly domestic focus did relatively well today, save for Waaree Energies, which is a leading module exporter to the US. However, even Waaree has a US-based module manufacturing plant which was recently commissioned, where margins could actually improve for sales in the US. So one has to see exactly how this plays out. It was one of those rare days when all the developers on our list gained, especially Acme Solar which rose 5% on news of debt refinancing.
With the big event of US tariff announcements out of the way, consequences have clearly been kicked down the road. At this stage, with India escaping relatively lightly vis a vis many other countries it competes with on exports, there is not enough to fear perhaps, other than an actual shrinkage of market potential as consumers pull back possibly with higher prices.
In green energy, the outlook for prices remains stable, especially in solar, and that, combined with room to drop in storage costs especially in India, means that there is a strong growth opportunity still.
