Solar tracker manufacturer from Spain, Soltec, has designed a single-axis tracker specifically for the US market. The tracker, SFOne US, vis-a-vis Soltec’s trackers for other markets, sees a fewer number of parts. It also comes with the option with some pieces pre-assembled.

In the US market, the tracker is longer with thicker piles, which means that fewer piles are needed.

Colin Caufield, VP of sales, North America for Soltec, made an observation of the US market, “In the US, the number of piles to install is a major factor that needs to be reduced to be competitive.”

Soltec has in place a supply chain for the tracker’s steel components in the country. Besides, the firm has domestic contract manufacturers aimed at the production of the piles, tubes and purlins. The hardware is made in the United States as well.

The US version of Soltec’s tracker SFOne entails Dy-Wind technology. The said technology promises a technique for the design of tracking structures resistant to the wind. It also offers optimization of the diffuse booster system during low-light.

The StringRunner is also used in the tracker. StringRunner is Soltec’s proprietary standard component. It brings together fused PV source circuits and cabling in the tracker torque-tube to a DC power switch. With the employment of this technology, one can curb trenching costs, as it makes way for in-tube cable management and low-voltage trenching minimization.

Further, Soltec’s tracker SFOne is designed for modules with 72- and 78-cell designs. As per the firm, it is self-powered by a module that brings down operating cost.

Soltec is of the view that the US market offers ample opportunity to the Spanish firm for expansion. Presently, the firm gets 27% of its revenue from Europe, with of its turnover, with the US and Latin America accounting for 25% and 47% respectively.

It was in 2021 that Soltec announced the launch of SFOne with a double row 1P configuration said to be adaptable to all types of projects in the global market.
