USA based multinational Honeywell has announced bringing EV industry safety solutions to India.

The firm has a portfolio of EV industry safety solutions. It also offers lithium-ion (li-ion) battery safety sensors, which help gauge potential battery fires. The firm’s suite of personal protective equipment (PPE) and gas detection solutions play a crucial role in safeguarding workers who work in EV plants.

“With more than 10 million EVs sold around the world last year, we’re seeing how pivotal they are in making the future of sustainable travel a reality,” stated Sarah Martin, President of Honeywell Sensing & Safety Technologies. “However, achieving sustainability goals can’t compromise safety. Honeywell’s portfolio of solutions enables safer production and operation of EVs, helping to drive tomorrow’s transportation industry forward,” she added.

The battery safety sensors by the firm, when integrated into EV and scooter battery packs, can aid with the detection of thermal runaway risks. Honeywell has forged a strategic partnership with Nexceris, which delves into the development of li-ion Tamer lithium-ion gas detection solutions. This partnership will enable Honeywell to make sensors to for the detection of thermal runaway indicators in EV and scooter batteries.

Workers involved in the EV battery assembly process work under hazardous conditions and at risk of facing injuries from chemicals and arc flash. To offer protection to workers in the industry, the firm makes electrical safety gear, portable and fixed gas detection technologies and PPE.

Honeywell has also partnered with ESS for the advancement of iron flow battery (IFB) energy storage systems. This is based on the patented IFB design of ESS with advanced materials and expertise in energy systems that Honeywell boasts.
