According to the statement, Vijayan's desire to establish a factory in Kerala would involve Ashok Leyland, the Hinduja Group business that specializes in the production of heavy vehicles, and now electric vehicles, to deploy a special team to the State.

Recently, Ashok Leyland invested through its subsidiary Switch Mobility in South India. As per the reports, the dedicated EV production plant was set up on the outskirts of Chennai in Tamil Nadu. The upcoming facility will have a manufacturing capacity of 30,000 units of electric light commercial vehicles. It will also roll out 10,000 units of electric buses.

Last year, the Hinduja Group-owned multinational automaker Ashok Leyland disclosed that it invested Rs. 18.66 crores for a 26% interest in Prathama Solar-connect Energy Private Limited (PSEPL).
