Waaree Forever Energies Private Limited, a subsidiary of Waaree Energies Limited, has received an intimation of a Letter of Award (LoA) from the Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) to develop a 300 MW wind power project in Dwarka, Gujarat. As mentioned in the regulatory filing, the company has entered into a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited, which will be valid for 25 years from the scheduled Commencement of Supply Date.
Gujarat remains one of India’s largest onshore wind markets, and the Dwarka project adds to the state’s expanding wind capacity under central government tenders. It has one of India’s best onshore wind regimes, particularly along the Saurashtra and Kutch regions, including Devbhumi Dwarka. High wind speeds and stable patterns translate into better capacity utilisation factors (CUFs), improving project economics and revenue certainty.
Earlier this year, SECI awarded its 1,200 MW wind project in February to seven bidders. In the same auction, KP Energy Limited, the wind-focused arm of the KP Group, emerged as the lowest bidder, securing 100 MW at an INR 3.67 per kWh tariff. A cluster of developers followed closely at INR 3.68 per kWh, including Ganeko Three Energy with 180 MW, Waaree Renewable Energy with 300 MW, and Opera Energy with 50 MW.
At the INR 3.69 per kWh level, Purvah Green Power was awarded 250 MW, while Vena Energy Aura secured 124 MW. Refex Holding Private Limited filled the remaining capacity within the permissible tariff band, taking advantage of the bucket-filling mechanism used in the auction.
Other Wind Projects in Dwarka, Gujarat
Last year, Mumbai-based integrated energy solutions provider Apraava Energy commissioned a 250.7 MW wind power project, comprising 120 units of 2.1 MW-rated Suzlon wind turbine generators (WTGs). The project is located at Sidhpur in the Devbhumi Dwarka district of Gujarat. The project was awarded to Apraava Energy as part of the Tranche VIII wind tender sponsored by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). With this addition, Apraava Energy’s operational wind portfolio now stands at approximately 1,200 MW.
Additionally, Juniper Green Energy has commissioned 28 MW of wind power capacity from its 70 MW wind project in Devbhumi Dwarka, Gujarat, through its subsidiary Juniper Green Kite Private Limited. This capacity was commissioned on October 15, 2025, about four months ahead of its Scheduled Commercial Operation Date (SCOD) of February 7, 2026. Juniper Green Kite Private Limited executed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) for the total 70 MW project on February 8, 2024.
