Google In Deals With Adani, Cleanmax For Clean Energy Deals In India

In a busy week for Google in India, the global search and web giant inked agreements with the Adani Group as well as Cleanmax Enviro for supply of green energy to power operations here.

Google Adani Tie-Up For Khavda Energy

The Adani Group and Google are collaborating to further reduce Google’s carbon footprint. Under the deal, Adani will supply clean energy from a new solar-wind hybrid project in the renewable energy plant at Khavda, Gujarat. This new project is expected to start commercial operations in the third quarter of 2025.

With proven capabilities in delivering large-scale wind, solar, hybrid, and energy storage projects, Adani is well-positioned to provide customized renewable energy solutions to commercial and industrial (C&I) customers to meet their energy requirements and reduce their carbon footprint. Going forward, Adani plans to increase the focus on merchant and C&I segments to help decarbonise industries.

This innovative collaboration will help advance Google’s 24/7 carbon-free energy goal by ensuring cloud services and operations in India are supported by clean energy and thereby contribute to the sustainable growth of Google in India.

Google Cleanmax Deal

The deal precedes another deal between Google and Clean Max Enviro Energy Solutions (CleanMax), a Brookfield-backed company and a leading renewable energy and net-zero solution provider for the Commercial and Industrial (C&I) sector.

Under this agreement, CleanMax will develop a 125.4 MW hybrid project, consisting of 66 MW solar generation capacity in Rajasthan and 59.4 MW of wind generation capacity in Karnataka. These projects will be connected to the national grid of India and will support the decarbonisation of Google’s cloud services and offices across India, aligning with Google’s goal to run on 24/7 carbon-free energy on every grid where it operates by 2030.
These projects are expected to start commercial operations from Q4 2025 and will generate an estimated 350,000 million kWh of carbon free energy annually
