Global Shipments of Longi’s Hi-MO 5 Modules Exceed 50 GW

Global solar conglomerate LONGi has announced that, as of mid-December, global shipments of its Hi-MO 5 solar module have exceeded 50 GW. The manufacturer also said that the cumulative shipments are now approaching 100 million panels.

The Hi-MO 5, based on 182mm cells, was officially released in June 2020. It offers features such as adaptability to an extensive range of application scenarios, easy to handle, transfer, store and install, with a very low breakage rate, claims LONGi.

Based on gallium-doped, half-cell, crackless smart soldering technology, Hi-MO 5 modules have received wide industry recognition, including awards from Intersolar and TÜV Rheinland for Energy Yield Simulation at its ‘All Quality Matters’ congress, while end-user consumers have endorsed the product for exceeding expectations in terms of power generation performance, as per LONGi.

LONGi has also quoted the industry sources and said that the market share for 182 modules has seen a rapid increase during 2022, moving from 27 per cent in 2021 to a current high of 70 per cent.

Moving forward, LONGi said that it will add more products to its Hi-MO range and will continue to deliver green energy on a global scale as part of the transformation and upgrading of energy structures.

In November, LONGi introduced the Hi-MO 6 which is its first module designed exclusively for the global distributed consumer market. It is based on high efficiency Hybrid Passivated Back Contact (HPBC) cell technology and has achieved a maximum efficiency of 22.8 per cent in mass production. The firm also declared that it achieved new world record conversion efficiency of 26.12 per cent for its p-type silicon heterojunction (HJT) cells.

Additionally, LONGi released a new half-cut cell module version of the Hi MO5 module specifically designed for the European market. The new product, as revealed by LONGi, has 66 solar cells in the module which is based on M10 wafer size.
