The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is reportedly gearing up to install grid-connected rooftop solar panels on its office buildings to reduce electricity bills.
GHMC will invite Expression of Interest cum Request for Proposal for installation of solar panels reports TNIE.
Recently a provisional survey was conducted on GHMC buildings revealing that there is a possibility of generating more than 10 MW solar power.
The cost of installing grid is expected to be around 88 crore for 11 MW. There is a provision of Central financial assistance of 15 per cent of the total cost under central government’s grid- connected rooftop and small solar power plants program.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation is reportedly considering three different models-solar installation owned, operates and maintained by third party (private agency), build operate and transfer (BOOT) model.
