St Joseph Service Centre has become the first Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) petrol pump in Mangaluru to introduce an electric vehicle charging machine. The EV charging machine was inaugurated by Territory Manager BPCL, MCI (Retail) Amol Bhosale today.

Amol Bhosale addressed the gathering, “Electric charging is the new alternative for fuel in the market. The future of fuelling in any country is electric charging. The petroleum minister has said that India will be free of emission by 2050 which will be a challenging target. The electric charging station will make way for this particular initiative by the government. This will also lead to a new and cleaner India. St Joseph Service Centre are into petroleum products for more than ten years and electric charging station by BPCL is the first in Mangaluru. St Joseph Service Centre got the opportunity to set up the same within a record time.”
Bishop of Mangalore Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, who was also present on the occasion, remarked, “St Joseph Service Centre is the first BPCL petrol pump in Mangaluru to introduce electric vehicle charging machine. All are witnesses to the climatic change in the month of August as we see the mercury rising. We are also responsible for the near-exhaustion of fossil fuel. There are many countries which have made strong resolutions to shut down all the atomic energy plants. We are, on our own, destroying earth by introducing pollution and gadgets. Here we have a chance to use an alternative energy which can save the environment from pollution.”

Recently, BPCL and two-wheeler electric manufacturer Ather Energy joined forces to expand the EV network in India. The partnership paves the way for Ather Energy to get access to BPCL’s network of more than 21,000 fuel stations in India, making it possible for Ather to install fast-charging Grid.
