First 20 GW HJT Perovskite Cell & Module Factory in the Works in US First Solar Wins 2 GW Order from Longroad Energy for Thin-Film Solar Modules

Salt Lake City, Utah, United States is set to welcome a mega solar cell and module factory. The establishment will be set up by US-based Revkor Energy Holdings Inc and Germany’s equipment provider H2 Gemini Technology Consulting GmbH, that have set sights on building a 20 GW facility.

“Under the terms of the partnership, Revkor and H2 Gemini will collaborate to establish high-efficiency HJT PV cell and module production across multiple project sites, with a targeted capacity of 20 GW by 2026″, the joint statement from the two firms said.

The statement further revealed that the first phase will see development of 5 GW production facility every year. The firms are looking at the second quarter of 2024 to kickstart production. As of now, 1 million square foot production is already in the works.

The partnership will see H2 Gemini supply HJT/perovskite manufacturing equipment. The firm will also offer project management for HJT production lines while also helping with delivery, implementation and the transfer of IP technology.

Revkor will be responsible to get funding for the manufacturing and research facilities. These are said to be more than a few billion dollars. Towards this, the American firm has approached several funding programs to lend support.

The facility will also boast a research center housed within the manufacturing site. This will also spread to 1 million square foot.

Revkor delves into the solar energy industry that entail solar cell and module manufacturing along with EPC and electrical contracting. The German firm, H2Gemini, looks into the manufacture of equipment that aids with high efficiency solar cells.

The HJT Perovskite Cell and Module factory will be first such in the United States.

The US is witnessing a boom in solar manufacturing with the introduction of a slew of policies that are catalysing the industry. The Inflation Reduction Act has been instrumental in pushing solar manufacturing.

Perskovite has gained favour with developers, who are always on the lookout for higher energy yields.

Thanks to the policy measures in place, Europe is also expanding solar manufacturing rapidly.
