Envision Secures RLMM Nod for 5 MW Wind Turbine Model By Saur News Bureau/ Updated On Tue, Jun 24th, 2025 Envision Secures RLMM Nod for 5 MW Wind Turbine Model Envision Energy India has received RLMM (Revised List of Models and Manufacturers) approval from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) for its new 5 MW wind turbine model, EN-182/5.0 50Hz TC, the company said in a statement. The approval, granted on May 28, covers the 181-metre rotor diameter turbine with a hub height of 105.56 metres and an 89-metre blade length mounted on a tubular steel tower. The model has also received an IEC 61400-22:2010 type certificate from DNV, valid until February 16, 2026. The EN182/5.0 platform marks a significant upgrade from Envision’s earlier EN156/3.3MW model, offering over 40% higher annual energy production (AEP), according to the company. It is designed to operate in ambient temperatures of up to 50°C and includes enhanced safety features such as improved smoke and fire detection systems. Envision has secured an order book of 2 GW for the new turbine platform from independent power producers (IPPs), with deliveries scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2025. The company’s blade manufacturing unit in Tiruchirappalli and nacelle and hub facility in Pune are ramping up production to meet demand. The 5 MW turbine is also a part of Envision’s broader localisation strategy. The company aims to increase local content from 60% in its 3.3 MW platform to 80% in the new 5 MW model, strengthening supply chain resilience. “The RLMM approval for the 5 MW platform underlines our commitment to innovation and quality in India,” said RPV Prasad, Managing Director of Envision Energy India. “With high-wind sites largely saturated, the EN182/5.0MW is optimised for low-wind regions, offering cost-effective generation without compromising output.” RLMM listing is a regulatory requirement for all wind turbine OEMs to operate in the Indian market.
