eBikeGo To Establish Manufacturing Plant For Domestic, Global Market

The electric two-wheeler mobility platform eBikeGo has announced its plans to expand footprint beyond the shores. Popular brands like Muvi and Velocipedo of eBikeGo will make their presence felt in a new market outside of India when the new manufacturing plant begins to produce electric bikes through subsidiary arm, Vajram Electric. Not just powertrain, but multiple products will be manufactured at the facility for both domestic and international markets.

“We aim to be India’s first electric mobility company that is building an integrated EV ecosystem. A dedicated quality EV manufacturing unit is the need of the hour and Vajram Electric is the first and a crucial step towards achieving this goal. Vajram Electric will offer modular, purpose-built EVs to solve the future of mobility,” said Irfan Khan, founder-CEO, eBikeGo.

Released by the company, a statement reads that Vajram will set up an integrated EV (Electric Vehicle) ecosystem and the two-wheeler powertrain enabling a wide variety of vehicle configurations. There will be a contract manufacturing facility in order to reduce costs and optimise platform sharing.

The company is proactively working with all the major last-mile delivery companies. It has set its sights on a target of 2 per cent of the domestic electric two-wheeler market with plans to bring on the road a fleet of 2,00,000 bikes in about 100 cities across the country, as per the statement. The company presently has presence in seven cities and has over 2,500 vehicles in the EV rental space. In 2021, it had declared the acquisition of manufacturing and marketing rights for European E-scooter Muvi as well as manufacturing rights for electric trike Velocipado from Spanish automotive company Tarrot.

eBikeGo had forged a partnership through an MoU with Bengaluru-headquartered advanced battery technology start-up Log9 Materials in May this year to introduce their 10-minute Superfast Charging Technology (InstaCharge technology) for their upcoming electric trike, Velocipedo. With this partnership, eBikeGo claims that it is looking to disrupt not just the Indian but also the international EV market. Log9 Materials, at the same time, will be adapting their InstaCharge Tech that enables Velocipedo to be charged within just ten minutes- a new benchmark in the EV industry.
