Diamond Firm SRK Marks 61 Years With New Solar Projects For Diamond Units

Surat-based Shree Ramkrishna Exports (SRK), a diamond company, celebrated its 61st anniversary with “Parivarotsav 2025”. A key highlight of the event was the inauguration of two solar power projects—a 6 MW plant in Akala village and a 0.814 MW facility in Amod. The projects will supply clean energy to SRK’s diamond manufacturing units, SRK Empire and SRK House.

Union Labour and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya praised SRK’s environmental efforts, saying, “In India, service is a cultural value, and the spirit of family sustains our traditions. SRK’s Parivotsav showcases how collective identity and family values can drive corporate and societal progress.”

Speaking at the event, SRK Group Founder & Chairman Govindbhai Dholakia said, “Our growth has been guided by purity in purpose and lifestyle. In our organization, no one is addicted or exploitative. This disciplined, simple way of working is what drives our continued success.”

Diamond processing or even the newest lab diamond businesses tend to be fairly energy intensive, and most firms are capable of moving to renewable energy if they set plans for it. With dropping storage costs, even the issue of RTC power is close to getting solved for these units, and one can only hope that in the coming months and years  most of these units will go green, supporting their global credentials as well. Doing it with solar is a no brainer, and the first step that needs to be taken at the earliest.
