Even as solar has gone from strength to strength  in India, there is no doubt that an area that has needed serious effort is training. And no one knows this better than the key equipment suppliers, whose customer service teams are called to trouble shoot during and after project installations. Thus, it is indeed a positive step to see GoodWe, a leading manufacturer and supplier to the India market of residential and commercial smart solar inverters and energy storage solutions, partner with the Skill Council for Green Jobs (SCGJ). The two day program on understanding and installing solar inverters is being held from October 12 to 13, 2023 at Delhi’s India Habitat centre.

Skill Council for Green Jobs is an initiative of the Government of India aligned to the National Skill Development Mission. It is promoted by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

For participants, the event offers an opportunity to understand the working of solar inverters better, especially as these become ‘smarter’ and more versatile. Capable of offering many more insights and inputs on a project’s performance.

That makes their Operation and maintenance (O&M) an essential need to enhance the efficiency of solar systems, prolong their life and eliminate risks. Gamifying learning further, the training session also allowed the participants to exhibit their skills in a friendly competition. The winner of the competition, who seamlessly installs a solar PV inverter within the allotted time, will take home the Solar Cup.

Monika Kumari, Marketing Manager-India GoodWe touched upon the significant aspect of skilling at a time of ever faster technology evolution and launches.

Subrahmanyam Pulipaka, Chief Executive Officer, National Solar Energy Federation of India who also inaugurated the program, shed light on the massive opportunity that solar energy in India offers and the advancements being made in the sector.  And importantly, the many green job opportunities it will create.

For Goodwe, the focus on training is an ongoing effort to ensure both its partners and customers make the most of their solar systems. Over the past year, GoodWe has successfully conducted two virtual training programs in conjunction with SCGJ. It has benefited over 100 participants that have gained insights into Solar PV System, installation, quality aspects, and other components. The firm has incentivised participation and learning by efforts such as a grand prize of $1,000 USD as a scholarship or award money to the winner.
