Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Daimler AG made additions to photovoltaic installations at its Oragadam Plant, near Chennai.

With the addition of photovoltaic installation to the existing solar plant, the overall technical capacity has increased from 0.8 to 3.3 megawatts.

The plant consists of over 10,000 solar panels. With this upgrade one fourth of the average daytime power required for DICV’s operations on site will be met through green power.

Speaking on the occasion Marc Llistosella, president and CEO of MFTBC and head of Daimler Trucks Asia, said: “At Daimler worldwide, we minimise negative effects from our activities with the help of effective environmental management systems and state-of-the-art technologies. This project is a perfect example of how Daimler Trucks Asia promotes climate protection, conserves valuable resources and contributes to the preservation of a livable environment.”
