Citizen Solar Signs Pact With Jinchen For Manufacturing Equipment By Saur News Bureau/ Updated On Thu, Jun 12th, 2025 Citizen Solar Signs Pact With Jinchen For Manufacturing Equipment Indian solar module manufacturer Citizen Solar has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Jinchen Corporation for the supply of 2.4 GW of fully automatic turnkey module manufacturing equipment to boost its solar manufacturing capabilities. This comes at a time when the firm has planned to expand its production capacities. The company signed the pact at the signing ceremony at SNEC, Shanghai in China. Representatives from both the team were present during the signing in ceremony. Expanding Module Capacity Citizen Solar, a Gujarat-based solar module manufacturer, is undertaking an ambitious expansion of its module assembly capacity. The company had earlier had also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Chinese solar manufacturing equipment provider Jinchen Corporation in February 2024 to scale up its production capabilities. The plan involves ramping up its solar PV module manufacturing capacity to 1.2 GWp in a phased manner. This move is part of Citizen Solar’s broader goal to achieve a total capacity of 2 GWp by 2025, positioning itself among India’s prominent module assemblers. Upgrading Facilities As per the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE)’s Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) published in July 2024, Citizen Solar’s officially approved module capacity has grown from 70 MW to 150 MW. The company has already begun upgrading its facilities to integrate Jinchen’s high-efficiency, automated production lines, a move that is expected to significantly enhance both volume and quality. However, Citizen Solar has not yet announced any plans to enter solar cell manufacturing. The firm remains focused solely on module assembly, as there is no indication or official announcement about vertical integration into cell production technologies such as TOPCon or HJT.
