Several wind energy behemoths and industry leaders are now all set to hold meetings to brainstorm renewable technologies at the upcoming Windergy India 2023 event. The event has been planned in Chennai from October 4 to October 6 at the Chennai Trade Centre. 

A series of conferences with participation from the Tamil Nadu government, the wind turbine makers, developers and others from the sector have been planned during these days. This is in addition to the International Trade Fair at the venue. The organizers held a press conference in New Delhi to brief the media about the upcoming event. 

The organizers said that Windergy India while highlighting the need for technology & innovation, would bring together industry leaders, policymakers, investors, and innovators to explore the latest trends, technologies, and business opportunities in the domain. The event is likely to be inaugurated by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin. 

“Last time, the event was held in Delhi in an area of 6,500 sq-meters. The event attracted a good crowd. This time, we have planned to organise the event in a larger area of 10,000 square meters and anticipate more footfall. We are likely to brainstorm on the prospects of offshore wind with a special focus on wind-rich states of southern India during the event,” D V Giri, Secretary General of the Indian Wind Turbine Manufacturers Association (IWTMA), said. 

Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), Component Manufacturers, Industrial Equipment, Lubricants, Gear boxes and others such as Suzlon Energy Limited, Envision Energy, Nordex, Sany Renewable Energy, Senvion, INOX Wind, LM Wind Power, NGC Transmission, Flender Drives, ZF Wind Power, TPI Composites, Hine Hydraulics, Mtandt Group, Jindal Steel & Power, UL Solutions, Aditya Birla Advanced Material, NexHS Renewables Pvt LtdEverrenew Renewable and many more are part of Windergy India 2023.

The event has been supported by the Ministry of Power, Ministry of Renewable Energy, Niti Aayog and by the Government of Tamil Nadu through its investment promotion arm, Tamil Nadu Guidance Bureau as the Invest partner. Windergy India will have representations from all the wind-rich states, such as Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Rajasthan, with a delegation.

The UK Government is joining as a Country Partner, indicating its commitment to fostering cooperation with India in the offshore wind energy sector. Denmark, as the Green Strategic Partner Country, would be showcasing its groundbreaking innovations from their country to propel the sector forward. 

Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) has joined the platform as a Knowledge Partner. The organizers said that GWEC’s role as a knowledge Partner would provide industry players with comprehensive and up-to-date information on the latest technological advancements, market trends, policy developments, and regulatory frameworks. The trade fair will also feature exhibitors from Germany, Spain, France, the United States of America, China, Sweden, Norway, Italy, Netherlands, Switzerland, Brazil, and Japan, adding a global perspective to the event.

A two-day conference themed on ‘Power of Wind 2.0 – Energizing the Future of India’ will be organised alongside the trade fair. The conference will host special addresses, keynote speeches, panel discussions, and technology presentations revolving around key topics, including accelerating decarbonization through wind energy, the business and financial economics of wind power, hybrid and storage solutions, technology and innovation, the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) and Net-Zero initiatives manufacturing and supply chain/export aspects, grid-planning integration with regulatory frameworks, the southern region’s specific considerations, offshore development in India, and Tamil Nadu’s unique context.

In addition to the extensive trade fair and conference, Windergy India 2023 will host roundtable discussions involving key stakeholders from Spain, the UK, Denmark, and the Tamil Nadu Guidance Bureau. These vital discussions will allow collaboration among the most important players in the wind energy sector.
