The UT Administration on Monday in a meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Ajit Balaji Joshi discussed plan for newly proposed grain, fruit, and vegetable market in Sector 39. The administration also decided that the market will run on solar power and will have green technology features.

Joshi has set target of one-year for the completion of grain market in Sector 39 at the meeting which was attended by officers of the Department of Architecture, Science and technology, Engineering Department and marketing board.

Science and Technology Department in Chandigarh will install necessary equipment in the proposed fruit and vegetable market which will fully run on solar power. The provision of rain water harvesting has been also made in the building.

The Architect Department has been asked to send detailed planning for shops to be constructed in the market. It is expected that more than 200 cr will be required to build the most modern marker in the region.
