The company told in an investor’s presentation, is currently executing 3.2 GW of hybrid renewable projects, comprising 1,200 megawatts (MW) of solar and wind capacity—600 MW each—in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Andhra Pradesh. Additionally, Purvah aims to secure grid connectivity for 5.8 GW across high wind and solar potential states, including Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka.

In the wind energy segment, the company plans to add 800 MW in FY27, 1,500 MW in FY28, and 1,700 MW in FY29. Overall, Purvah intends to increase its total renewable capacity by 1,400 MW in FY27, 2,400 MW in FY28, and 3,200 MW in FY29.

After seeing expansion plans stymied by the poor growth of power demand in its home state of Bengal, CESC has stepped on the accelerator finally after delaying moves into renewable energy. The firm runs its own thermal plants with offtake deals in place in the state, but the pressure of RPO’s and beyond that for the group to clean up has been high.
