Canadian Solar Launches EP Cube Residential ESS

Canadian Solar, which manufactures solar PV modules, has announced that its majority-owned subsidiary CSI Solar, will launch EP Cube, a lightweight and sleek all-in-one residential energy storage solution. The innovative product will be unveiled at RE+ trade show on September 19-22, 2022, in Anaheim, California.

EP Cube- Driven by Innovation

The EP Cube boasts of several features: it is scalable and customizable from 9.9 kWh to 19.9-kWh capacities. At the same time, it offers all-in-one design with hybrid inverter and stackable battery modules, that require minimal wall space (6.25 inches being the thinnest). It offers the advantage of being not just lightweight, with each EP Cube battery module weighing less than 70 pounds- lower than most residentail energy storage devices, but also easy to install since it has all-inclusive components and self-configuration that facilitate fast commissioning.

Further, the EP Cube is compatible with both new and retrofit, AC and DC-coupled PV systems.

Dr. Shawn Qu, Chairman and CEO of Canadian Solar commented, “We are pleased to expand our clean energy offering into the residential energy storage market by launching the EP Cube, leveraging our existing partnerships and channels. The recently enacted Inflation Reduction Act will help the U.S. market transition faster towards clean power by increasing renewable energy accessibility through tax breaks and rebates. The EP Cube is a perfect solution for homeowners to use these incentives and invest in clean energy.”

Intelligent Features

Other than a gamut of advantages that it offers, the EP Cube is customizable to individual needs because of its modular approach. Additionally, the ESS incorporates the Smart Gateway, an intelligent technology platform that makes it possible for automatic and seamless energy transfers to happen for on- or off-grid use sans user disruption.

The customizable EP Cube, was innovated keeping in mind the needs of both the homeowners as well as installers. While homeowners do not have to pick and choose what to power anymore since the full home can be powered, thanks to the EP Cube, installers can efficiently install the full unit.

The firm, Canadian Solar is also working on an app to help with homeowners with the management of energy storage systems. Easy, real-time monitoring of energy production and consumption are some of the features that the app will make possible. Homeowners will have access to home energy management and over-the-air (OTA) software update services. Installers use the app to set up and troubleshoot systems.
