BSPGCL Looks for Developers for 185 MW PV Project with 254 MW BESS

The Bihar State Power Generation Company Ltd (BSPGCL) has issued a tender looking for a solar developer for the development of a 185 MW solar project in Kajra, Lakhisarai district. It will be supplemented by a 254 MW Battery Energy Storage System.

The Battery Energy Storage System must be established for power delivery of a maximum of 45.4 MW for four hours.

The last day to submit the bid by a solar developer is January 4, 2024. Bidding opens on the same day, that is, January 4, 2024. The bidder that emerges successful shall commission the project within 18 months of being awarded the Letter of Award.

The tender issued by Bihar State Power Generation Company Ltd seeks participation in bidding from consultancy firms for Owners Engineer (OE) services needed for the design, engineering, supply, construction, erection, testing, and commissioning of the renewable energy project.

BESS Tenders

This year has seen several BESS tenders being issued. These include SECI’s tender for 40 MW/120 MWh BESS at Chhattisgarh, TERI’s tender for 20 MW/ 40 MWh, GUVNL’s 250 MW/ 500 MWh BESS. SECI also released a tender earlier during the year to construct a 2 MWh solar project and a 1 MW Battery Energy Storage System in Kaza, Himachal Pradesh.

The announcement of the recent BESS tender from BSPGCL follows the release of the tender for the procurement of power through tariff-based competitive bidding from grid-connected 10 MW (AC) floating solar PV power project to be set up under RESCO mode over the Reservoir of Phulwaria Dam at Rajauli, Nawada in the state of Bihar.
