Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated Avaada Group’s 280 MW solar power project located across 1,170 acres in the Tavi and Varsani villages of Surendranagar district, Gujarat. Developed under the Gujarat Solar Policy, the project represents a total investment of INR 1,500 crore.

Project Contributions to Gujarat’s Renewable Energy Mix

The solar energy generated from the Surendranagar project will be supplied to Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL), which will directly contribute to the state’s renewable energy portfolio. The project is intended to provide affordable electricity with particular benefits for local farmers.

The project is also expected to offset approximately 595,857 tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually. Moreover, by implementing robotic module cleaning systems, it will conserve roughly 112 lakh litres of water each year, minimising its ecological footprint in the arid region.

Foundation Laid for New 100 MW Solar Plant in Vadodara

In a parallel development, Modi also virtually laid the foundation stone for Avaada’s upcoming 100 MW solar project in Vadodara district. Spanning 350 acres and involving an investment of INR 400 crore, the plant is scheduled for commissioning by April 2026.

This new project is designed to reduce about 212,806 tons of CO2 emissions annually while conserving nearly 40 lakh litres of water each year due to the use of advanced robotic cleaning technology.

Avaada’s Expanding Renewable Energy Footprint

Avaada Group is a diversified clean energy conglomerate engaged in renewable power generation, solar PV manufacturing, green hydrogen and derivatives, green data centres, battery storage, and pumped hydro projects.

The new development comes in succession to the company’s recent announcement of commissioning 11 solar power projects in Maharashtra's Yavatmal district under the Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Vahini Yojana 2.0 to provide reliable power for irrigation. The Prime Minister also virtually laid the foundation stone of SJVN Limited’s 200 MW Solar Power Project (GUVNL Phase – XVII) at Khavda Solar Park in Gujarat’s Kachchh district.
