UK-Based Aukera to Acquire 1000 MW Solar Portfolio in Germany

UK-Based Aukera to Acquire 1000 MW Solar Portfolio in Germany

European RE investment giant Aukera BV has announced that it is to acquire a solar PV portfolio of projects under development across Germany with an initial 1,000 MW of total capacity from Securenergy Solutions AG. Aukera said that Securenergy Solutions will be responsible for the development of the projects, which itintends to build, own, and operate as part of its strategy.

Aukera is backed by AtlasInvest, a leading investor in the energy sector. The 1-GW solar power portfolio is being developed in various parts of Germany at present.

The official statement of Aukera held that the agreement has been structured as a Joint Venture. The company is seeking to expand its presence in Germany and aims to consolidate its position in the renewable energy sector, across solar PV, onshore wind and storage, with further acquisitions.

Pascal Emsens, Co-Founder, Aukera, said, “The agreement with Securenergy for 1,000 MW Solar PV projects marks another step in our commitment to contribute to the energy security in Europe via sustainable renewable energy. It also highlights the importance of the German renewable market for our growth strategy. We aim to expand our presence and pipeline in Germany”.

It marks a key milestone to consolidate our position in the German market. We aim to contribute, by means of this investment, to the economic growth and social development of the local communities where the projects are located”.

In the acquisition bid, Akereos Capital acted as exclusive M&A advisor to Aukera, with Watson Farley & Williams acting as legal advisor and PI Berlin as technical advisors.

About Aukera

Aukera claims to be a specialist in renewable investments and development in Europe. Its activities range from early-stage development and co-development to acquiring ready-to-build projects and constructing the projects by self.

The company was established a decade ago with head offices in Brussels and London. Aukera informs that its team has completed more than one hundred renewable energy investments and co-developments. These include the successful build up and exit of the largest UK feed-in tariff wind business in 2018 and work with the Malaysian state utility Tenaga Nasional Berhad in a $250 million transaction.

The platform has the objective of delivering about 2.7 GW of renewable energy projects in Europe by 2022 end.
