APGENCO & NHPC Partnership

Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation (APGENCO) and NHPC (National Hydroelectric Power Corporation) have joined hands to promote the projects. APGENCO will enter into an agreement with NHPC to give a push to Pumped Storage Power Projects.

APGENCO had also given its nod for MoU with NHPC for the execution of Yaganti and Kamalapadu pumped storage projects and other projects in Phase II on June 16.

APGENCO and NHPC will carry out fresh pumped storage and renewable energy projects by way of a joint venture firm. This will pave the path for optimal utilisation of resources of APGENCO as well as the State Government with the sharing of risks and costs. Projects will also be expedited along greater capacity additions.

APGENCO also revealed that the State will also release a white paper on opportunities in investment in Green Hydrogen in Andhra Pradesh soon.

APGENCO concluded about the massive push to renewable energy in Andhra Pradesh, “The State will become a destination for clean and affordable energy.”

Andhra Pradesh is fast emerging as a destination for renewable energy projects. Recently, distributed clean energy solutions provider Amplus Solar entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Andhra Pradesh government. Hero Future Energies plans to invest a sum of INR 30000 Crores to set up RE facilities (solar and wind) for C&I customers, utility projects and green hydrogen derivatives in Andhra Pradesh and signed an MoU with the State government in March.
