ALMM May Update- Goldi, Premier, RenewSys Dominate New Additions Of 8653 MW

Highlights :

  • With a total of 104 manufacturers listed for now, India’s manufacturing market appears to be mirroring China in sheer numbers, if not capacity.  That, unfortunately, can’t last.
  • The addition of over 8.6 GW is among the highest ever in a single update by the MNRE
ALMM May Update- Goldi, Premier, RenewSys Dominate New Additions Of 8653 MW 2025's biggest single capacity addition in a single month

The May update of the Approved List of Module Manufacturers from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) is out with possibly the highest ever addition of capacity and new manufacturers in a long time. IN a letter dated May 21, the MNRE has made some changes to the list , with BIS number also added on for added information.

Total Capacity Pushes 90 GW Mark

The list itself counts total solar module capacity of 87973 MW in the country now, not including capacity that has not yet been included in the ALMM list yet by 104 manufacturing entities. That would indicate actual operating capacity of possibly well over a 100 GW by now across the country.

Top 5  Contributors

Leading the list of capacity additions this month was Goldi Sun from Goldi Solar, which added a whopping 3114 MW, followed by Premier  Energies Global Management which added 1085 MW, followed by RenewSys India which added 1197 MW, and Solex Energy, which added 767 MW. Waaree Energies owned Indosol Solar added 472 MW as well, rounding off the top 5 in terms of capacity additions.

Major New Entrants
New entrants included Premier Energies Global Management (owned by Premier Energies), Pravanya Solar India from Luno Solar (79 MW), Amrut Energy (48 MW), Green Brilliance Renewable Energy (32 MW) and Brio Industries(21 MW).

Significant Contributors
Oswal Solar Structure (343 MW), ADM Solar Power and Infrastructure(373 MW)  and Luminous Power Technologies (264 MW) were the other notable firms that added over a 250 MW to approved capacity in May.

The pace of additions, it would appear, will get one major boost from Reliance New Energy at some stage during the year besides others to cross the 125 GW mark by year end as most industry observers expect. In many ways that level will also mark a peak for module capacity before it stabilises or starts to even drop, due to potential overcapacity or lack of economies of scale that might kick in for many of the smaller players. 100 plus manufacturers is a situation that is simply not sustainable, before the realities of a competitive market kick in.

2026 is bound to be about the shift to ALCM, or Approved List of Cell Manufacturers, due to kick in from June 2026.
