Europe’s solar developer and Independent power producer, Alight has revealed that it is set to mark its entry into the Finland with a solar park project of over 100 MW, helping with the yearly energy needs of close to 20,000 homes.

The ground-mounted project will spread to an area of more than 123 hectares located in Eurajoki in the Satakunta municipality. Scheduled for construction in the first quarter of 2024, the solar park will be commissioned in the first quarter of 2026.

Finland’s municipality of Eurajoki leads with fossil-free electricity production and the establishment of the 100 MW solar park from Alight will further solidify its transition to clean energy.

“Alight has been pioneering solar power in Sweden for more than 10 years and we similarly see huge potential in the Finnish market,” Chief Operations Officer, Alight, Warren Campbell remarked while adding, “This new project in Eurajoki marks an exciting expansion phase into the Finnish market for Alight, while at the same time helping the country to reach its ambitious targets of becoming carbon neutral by 2035 and the world’s first fossil fuel-free society.”

Recently, Alight and food retail group Axfood have signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) to build Sweden’s largest solar park threefold. In another partnership, Alight and Toyota Material Handling France (TMHFR) entered into a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), under which the former will provide solar energy to TMHFR at its facility in Bussy-Saint-Georges Paris, France.
