Advait, H.G. Infra Sign BESS Deal With GUVNL Backed by VGF By Chitrika Grover/ Updated On Fri, May 23rd, 2025 Highlights : The project is expected to generate revenue of around INR 160 crore, supported by Viability Gap Funding (VGF) from the central government. Advait, H.G. Infra Sign BESS Pact With GUVNL With VGF Support The Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) has signed Battery Energy Storage Purchase Agreements (BESPAs) with Gujarat-based Advait Energy and Rajasthan-based H.G. Infra Engineering, following the Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission’s (GERC) approval of tariffs discovered through a competitive bidding process for 500 MW/1,000 MWh standalone Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) in the state. Under GUVNL’s Phase IV tender, Advait Energy will develop a 50 MW/100 MWh BESS project at the 220 kV Radhanpur substation. The project is expected to generate revenue of around INR 160 crore, supported by Viability Gap Funding (VGF) from the central government. PPA Signed After GERC Clears BESS Tariff The projects are part of the Ministry of Power’s State Component scheme and aim to help Gujarat meet its Energy Storage Obligation, which is set to reach 4% by FY 2029-30. In an order dated May 6, GERC said it was satisfied with the transparency of the bidding process but criticized GUVNL for failing to provide adequate justification for the choice of substations, technical parameters, and GETCO certifications, despite repeated directives from the Commission. Advait’s Other BESS Projects Advait Energy Transitions Ltd, formerly Advait Infratech Ltd, earlier this year won an EPC order from Gujarat BESS Pvt Ltd to provide EPC services for the development of a 180 MW/360 MWh battery energy storage system (AC side). The project will be located at Sanand, Gujarat. The company informed investors of the development in a stock exchange filing. “The project will be located at Sanand in Gujarat and is scheduled for mechanical completion by Nov. 30, 2025, with final charging targeted for Dec. 23, 2025. The contract value is ₹74.34 million,” Advait Energy said in the filing.
