According to reports, AEML is presently supplying about 2000 MW of energy to consumers of which just 30 per cent comes renewable sources. The 1500 MW tender is issued by AEML to ensure that the share of renewables in its offering reaches 60 per cent.

The minimum bid capacity should be 250 MW; 50 MW is the minimum for each project while the maximum could be 1500 MW. The successful bidders must tender Rs 10 lakh bank guarantee before the PPA is signed. The notification said that AEML will sign a 10 year PPA with successful bidders.

The commissioned projects cannot participate in the tender. But the projects that are under construction or are completed but not commissioned can participate. These projects shouldn’t have already been accepted under any state or central programme.

A developer will require supplying renewable energy complemented with firm power from other power sources and keep the power availability at least 90 per cent annually. Power availability should be 90 per cent for at least 11 months. In the peak hours annually, it should again be 90 per cent available.

Energy storage systems (ESS) could also be amalgamated for the electricity supply but there should at least be 51 per cent power coming from renewable sources including the ESS.

The wind turbine models and solar modules should be sourced from Revised List of Models and Manufacturers, and Approved List of Models and Manufacturers issued by MNRE.

The AEML tender also mentions that the developer will be responsible to attain approvals, permits and clearances from the state or local bodies to develop the project and the required transmission network.
