Travel aggregator Uber Technologies has presented its flagship electric vehicle (EV) Uber Green in the city of Mumbai.

Last month, the firm had made known its plans to make an addition of 25,000 electric cars to its platform. Towards this, it had forged partnerships with Lithium, Everest and Moove- firms that provide fleet.

Uber said, “With Uber Green, you can now enjoy on-demand electric vehicle rides, making your travel experience eco-friendly and reducing carbon emissions,” while stating, “We believe that sustainability should be effortless and integrated into our daily lives. By offering on-demand electric rides, we aim to provide a convenient and zero-emission transportation option for our riders in Mumbai,” Uber added.

Passengers travelling to and from the Mumbai Airport will now have access to the electric vehicle facility.

“You can find a dedicated pick-up zone for Uber Green at Terminal 2 of Mumbai International Airport,” the firm informed after it rolled out Uber Green at the Airport. “Additionally, the service will be accessible across various parts of Mumbai, ensuring that a wider range of passengers can contribute to reducing carbon emissions and promoting sustainable mobility throughout the city,” it added further.

Other cities can also expect Uber Green to operate soon, “enabling riders across India to travel sustainably and contribute to a cleaner and healthier planet for all,” revealed Uber Technologies.

Uber had said last month that it had set sights on introducing 10,000 electric two-wheelers in Delhi- a goal it wants to achieve by 2024. For this, it had joined hands with EV start-up Zypp Electric. In the same month, the firm had also announced that Uber Green would first mark its presence in India in the three cities of Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru. The all-electric cabs will have zero tailpipe emissions, it had informed.
