Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities :

  • Acts as a focal point for vessel planning activities.
  • Efficient planning of container yard which requires and ensure high risk or dangerous cargos are handled correctly.
  • Maintain ownership of the vessels under vessel planner control and assist if planning disturbances occur during vessel call to ensure proper customer services.
  • Understand all operations plans by considering vessel details / stowage plan / sequence / berth allocation / storage location.
  • Maintain high levels of customer service to key stakeholders
  • Full understanding of vessel stability and safety requirements during loading and   unloading of Containers /cargo.
  • Prepare the final plan and EDI file and forward to the vessel and her agents.
  • Prepare, execute, and monitor working cranes program / sequence in executing the vessel’s discharge and load plans.
  • To comply with Agents/Masters request for special handling / Stowage of containers
  • Meet the vessel C/off on arrival and provide loading plans and obtain approval well in time.
  • Assigning cranes and prepares the Crane work list. Filing Hard copy of Discharge containers and Key plan
  • Monitoring the crane work order so that any proximity of cranes is avoided
  • Prepares and communicates vessel load plans and vessel work plans
  • Keeps the quay-operation and vessel administration systems updated.
  • Controls the execution of the vessel operation plan.
  • Checks with berthing coordinator for reasonable berthing position for fast turn-around of trailers during vessel operations.
  • Preparation and execution of vessel discharge and load sequence to support, achieve & sustain productivity targets per quay crane operation.
  • Manage and control the execution of the vessel operation plan, ensuring that the vessel file is closed within two hours of the completion of vessel operations.
  • Focusing on the optimal equipment deployment and utilization.
  • During the operation close monitoring of the vessel and advice Shift Manager of any required adjustments to crane, sequence, crane allocations, etc in accordance with the changing work priorities.
  • Liaise with clients to obtain stowage information and vessel layout as early as possible so that planning can take place in a timely and efficient manner
  • Coordinating with the lines for any major changes requested by the vessel.
  • Identifies and solves problems and issues on a daily basis, usually of a moderate to highly complex nature in coordination with Engineering, Line, Vessel Agent, Shift Manager and Supervisor.
