Job Description

Communications Engineer, Technologist I, will be responsible for the installation, maintenance and operations of the company’s network. The individual must be qualified at all levels of IP networks providing operational and project support to our business units data, voice, wireless and video networks. This position also involves developing & maintaining procedures to support  network operations

Duties & Responsibilities:

 ESSENTIAL (9 pt, All Caps)
  • Assist in availability of 24/7/365 staffing schedule of network operations
  • Assist in 24/7 monitoring of the servers, network and systems health using Solarwinds, Microsoft SCOM, SCCM, Splunk etc.
  • Work with trouble tickets, support teams to restore network services
  • Assist network operations center with investigations & documentation where warnings / threshold breach is observed
  • Design and maintain the monitoring tools.
  • Expert in problem resolution.
  • Documents, tracks and monitors problems to ensure a timely resolution of all comms assigned tickets.
  • Participate in an on call rotation to provide support to oceaneering global businesses.
  • Ability to work shifts to include holidays and weekends to support the infrastructure.
  • Responsible for providing project support and evaluating new technologies.
  • Identify and correct workflows and processes to improve network reliability and/or resolution times.
  • Promote a positive work environment and promote customer service.
  • Lead and mentor junior technicians on projects and troubleshooting.
  • Manage, control and document changes per the change management supervisor
  • Assist in root cause analysis of Network operation issues
  • Any other tasks as directed by line manager

NON-ESSENTIAL

  • Should be open to travel as per business needs

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Two options; with or without Supervisory responsibilities. If position has supervisory responsibilities, there should be related line items in the Functions section above.

  • This position has NO supervisory responsibilities

Reporting Relationship:

Attach org chart if available.

  • Reports to Manager, IT Service Center
  • Works closely with other teams within Service Center

Qualifications:

 REQUIRED
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Electronics, Computer Science, or equivalent education
  • Total work experience of 5-7 years
  • Must have an expert understanding of the TCP/IP network protocol.
  • Must be an expert in troubleshooting wireless networks from past experiences with Cisco, Aruba or Motorola.
  • Must be an expert in switching technologies.
  • Knowledge of the F5 load balance.
  • Must be an expert with the Cisco ASA firewall technologies.
  • Must be an expert with  EIGRP and BGP routing protocols.
  • Experience of QOS policies across the Enterprise for Data, Voice and Video.

DESIRED

  • Knowledge of User account management, Solarwinds configuration
  • CCNA, CCNP certifications preferred
  • Good communication skills
  • Fluent in English with excellent communication skills
  • Able to work independently

This position is considered OFFICE WORK which is characterized as follows.

  • Almost exclusively indoors during the day and occasionally at night
  • Occasional exposure to airborne dust in the work place
  • Work surface is stable (flat)
