Serentica To Deploy 5 MW Wind Turbines, Partners With Envision Photograph: (Tom Swinnen)
Serentica Renewables, a renewable energy company in India, has selected Envision Energy India, an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), to supply Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs) for its 560 MW wind project in India. The project will feature advanced Envision Smart WTGs, each with a 5 MW rated capacity. Deliveries are expected to commence by February 2026. These large wind turbines are likely to be soon used in the renewable energy projects in Karnataka and Maharashtra.
Commenting on the development, Akshay Hiranandani, CEO of Serentica Renewables, said:
"We are confident that this partnership with Envision Energy India will be pivotal in advancing the country’s renewable energy goals by delivering reliable green power to industries. The upcoming wind projects in Karnataka, Maharashtra, and other states will not only supply dependable renewable energy to industrial consumers but also play a vital role in reducing carbon emissions."
RPV Prasad, Managing Director of Envision Energy India, added: "We are proud to partner with Serentica Renewables for this project in Karnataka and Maharashtra, driving the energy transition with our 5 MW Smart Wind Turbines. It is an honour to collaborate in advancing India’s net-zero goals."
Serentica selected Envision Group’s high-performance wind turbines for their superior reliability, efficiency, and ability to deliver sustained power. These turbines will play a pivotal role in generating sustainable power for energy-intensive industries.
Hunger For Higher Wind Turbines
Several renewable energy developers are now eyeing large wind turbines in the range of 4 MW to 5 MW. This hints at a transition in the wind energy sector where earlier small wind turbines dominated the most favourable and windy sites in the country. Now, several developers have planned to transition to large wind turbines for projects situated in the high wind zones in the country to ensure less space and higher generation. Several companies in India, besides Envision, like Suzlon Energy, Inox Group and others are now also working to increase their portfolio of large wind turbines. Globally, the sector has seen wind turbines going beyond 8 MW for onshore wind projects, while for offshore projects, higher-capacity wind turbines have also shown their significance.
