With A Focus On Gujarat, BHEL Executes 1155 MW Solar Projects

Shripada Yesso Naik, Minister of State (MoS) for the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) said that BHEL (Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited) has executed solar energy projects of up to 1,155 MW. The minister shared the figures in his recent statements before the Lok Sabha.

As per the information shared by the minister, the central public sector enterprise (CPSE) invested in 18 states/UT. The Bhopal-based government entity, however has the highest solar capacity of 428.6 MW in Gujarat. It is followed by Telangana (246.5 MW), Tamil Nadu (92.5 MW), Madhya Pradesh (71.7 MW) and Maharashtra (54 MW). it also has a total of 12 MW of rooftop solar capacities too, the minister told the Parliament. 

It also designed, supplied, erected and commissioned a 5MWac ground-based solar power plant at the newly inaugurated Nalanda University campus in Bihar and helped it become a net-zero campus.

It is also working towards low carbon economy. For example it also incorporated a Joint Venture company – “Bharat Coal Gasification and Chemicals Limited” with CIL. BHEL holds 49% equity in JVC. This JVC will engage into the business of coal gasification to produce syn-gas, Ammonia & Nitric acid as intermediate products and Ammonium Nitrate as end product. \

As per the publicly filed disclosed, BHEL has a total outstanding order book of more than Rs 1,35,000 crore. Maximum of these emanate from power while 22 percent of the same comes from industry whole 3 percent of the order book if meant for exports.

BHEL recently received orders for 2x800 MW of Raipur power project from Adani Power Limited. It is also working for the supply of transformers for railways besides other industrial orders.
