Websol, Linton Partner to Explore Ingot And Wafer Manufacturing in India

Kolkata-based Websol Energy System, a solar cell and module manufacturer, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Linton, a global solar ingot and wafer equipment technology, to drive backward integration across the solar value chain.

In a release, Websol said both parties have agreed to explore the opportunity of manufacturing photovoltaic (PV) ingots and wafers in India, where it intends to acquire PV ingot and wafer manufacturing equipment from Linton. The company explained that, as part of this relationship, Linton will also extend technical expertise, including training and skills development for Websol’s team, to ensure equipment-related operations and processes are optimised.

Websol's collaboration with Linton Crystal Technologies, a Rochester, New York–headquartered global designer and manufacturer of Czochralski (CZ) furnaces and process control systems, offers comprehensive solutions for growing high-quality crystals, including those used in the photovoltaic industry.

The company further said, "With over three decades of innovation, Linton provides a wide range of equipment, from CZ growers to crystal processing equipment, enabling the efficient production of ingots and wafers for solar applications."
