Websol Bags 100 MW Mono PERC Solar Cell Order From Luminous

Websol Energy System Limited, a solar cell and module manufacturer, has signed a purchase agreement with Luminous Power Technologies Private Limited (Luminous). The company secured the order for the supply of 100 MW of Mono PERC Solar Cells. This order is scheduled for delivery between April 2025 and April 2026. The cells, with an expected efficiency range of 23% to 23.4%, will be delivered between April 2025 and April 2026.

Websol’s Expansion Plans And Project Status

Websol, in the last quarter, reported profitable growth in its Q3 FY25 results and is executing a multiphase expansion of its manufacturing capacity. In the last quarter, the company secured orders worth Rs. 116 crore, with shipments scheduled for the United States, the United Kingdom, Africa, and India.

Websol also shared phase-wise updates on its completed and upcoming projects as part of its broader expansion strategy:

• Phase I: The company has commissioned a 600 MW Mono PERC bifacial solar cell line and a 550 MW fully automated module line at its facility in Falta, West Bengal, completing the first phase of its expansion plan.

• Phase II: Websol is in the advanced stages of installing an additional 600 MW Mono PERC bifacial solar cell line. Commissioning is expected to begin in Q1 FY26, with commercial operations set for July 2025. The ₹220 crore investment is being funded through internal accruals and external financing from banks and financial institutions. Upon completion, Websol’s total solar cell capacity will reach 1.2 GW, with 550 MW of module capacity.

• Phase III: The company has begun groundwork for a greenfield expansion under Phase III. In a meeting held on Feb. 6, 2025, the board approved plans to pursue joint ventures or establish subsidiaries to support further expansion. Additional details on capacity additions for cells and modules will be announced following the completion of regulatory formalities.
