Indian renewable energy company Waaree Energies Limited today announced its partnership with IRCON Renewable Power Ltd. to supply over 200 MW of DCR category solar PV modules for Karnataka.

IRCON Renewable Power Ltd., a subsidiary of the public sector undertaking IRCON International Ltd., is a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for the setting up of a 500 MW grid-connected solar PV project, awarded by the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited (IREDA). The modules supplied by Waaree Energies Limited will be utilized by IRCON in the Pavagada solar park in Karnataka.

“With a capacity of 12 GW, Waaree Energies Limited is India’s largest solar module manufacturer in terms of installed capacity, [as well as an independent power producer. The Company has a presence in over large number of locations in India, and over 20 countries worldwide as on June 30, 2023,” the company said in a statement.

Pavagada solar park is one of the largest solar parks of India. The grid-connected project is based at the Tumkur district of the southern Indian state. The utility-scale projects in this region helps to boost the production of renewable energy in Karnataka. With the help of solar parks and other utility-scale solar projects in the state, Karnataka has been able to surpass its Renewable Purchase Obligations (RPOs). Karnataka meanwhile has several solar parks and wind farms in the state which gave the state a fillip in the adoption and trading of green power.
