Vibrant Gujarat MoUs: NTPC, Avaada Sign Up For Over 15 GW Renewable Investments
Renewable energy companies are turning their focus toward Gujarat, signing Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with the state government to set up large-scale renewable energy projects.
In a press release, NTPC Renewable Energy (NTPC REL), a subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), announced the signing of MoUs with the Gujarat government to develop solar parks and projects with a cumulative capacity of 10 GW, along with 5 GW of wind power projects. The MoU was exchanged on October 9, 2025, during the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference held in Mehsana, Gujarat.

Avaada Eyes 5 GW Solar, 1 GW Wind & 5 GWh BESS Projects Across Kutch
Another renewable energy major, Avaada Group, signed an MoU with the Government of Gujarat during the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2025 to invest ₹36,000 crore in solar, wind, and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects across the state. The plan includes developing 5 GW of solar, 1 GW of wind, and 5 GWh of BESS projects across Kutch, Banaskantha, and Surendranagar districts.
These projects are expected to enhance grid reliability through efficient storage and dispatch of renewable power. Construction is scheduled between 2027 and 2030 and is estimated to create over 1,000 direct and 2,000 indirect green jobs, along with employment for nearly 5,000 people during the construction phase.
Together, these initiatives aim to accelerate Gujarat’s transition to clean and affordable energy while delivering firm green power beyond solar hours through advanced battery storage.
Avaada’s Previous Projects
These MoUs build upon Avaada’s growing renewable energy portfolio, including the recently inaugurated 280 MW solar power project in Surendranagar, Gujarat, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Developed under the Gujarat State Solar Policy, the project spans 1,170 acres across the villages of Tavi and Varsani and involves an investment of ₹1,500 crore. It is equipped with Avaada Electro’s ALMM-certified, Make in India TOPCon N-Type bifacial solar PV modules, emphasizing domestic manufacturing and technological innovation.
